How To Move A Domain To Cloud Hosting

Our cloud hosting service is a completely separate system from our standard hosting. It features three new, larger hosting plans, Mega Squid (2 GB disk space and 75 GB bandwidth for $8/month), Ultra Squid (3 GB disk space and 150 GB bandwidth for $12/month) and Super Squid (4GB disk space and 200GB bandwidth for $16/month). Here is more information on our cloud hosting service and the advantages it offers.

We currently do not have any way to automatically move domains into the cloud, so if you are interesting in moving over, you would need to sign-up for cloud hosting, transfer your files and setup your email accounts, update your domain record’s name servers and then cancel your hosting on the old server. Here’s the four-step process:

  1. Sign up for cloud hosting using our Cloud Hosting Order Form.
  2. Transfer your files via FTP and setup your email accounts from your standard hosting plan on your new cloud account. If you need to migrate a database to the cloud, here’s how to do it using phpMyAdmin.
  3. Change your domain record with your registrar after you’ve moved your data to the cloud. Please note that the domain record change may take 24-48 hours to propagate completely.
  4. AFTER you have completed the first three steps, cancel hosting for your old domain using our Account Cancellation Form.

NOTE: Please note that your standard hosting plan will continue to be billed to the credit card on file until the plan is canceled.

Once your cloud hosting order has been processed, you will be given a credit for one month of free hosting on our cloud service in order to give you time to complete your move. If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact us.
